SBU suspends international drug trafficking

The SBU exposed drug trafficking via Boryspil International Airport. Drug dealers imported cocaine to Ukraine from one of the Latin American countries. Members of an international criminal group set up a vast network of drug couriers.

A multi-stage special operation resulted in the detention of two drug couriers with cocaine consignments at Boryspil International Airport.

One smuggler concealed drugs in personal belongings. Another tried to transport more than one kg of cocaine across the state border in the gastrointestinal tract. In total, law enforcement officers found two kg of cocaine.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated for smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors, the detained foreigners received suspicion notices.

Investigative actions are underway to establish the involvement of other people in the offense.

The special operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Cherkasy region under the coordination of the SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Kyiv Customs and Cherkasy Region Prosecutor's Office.
