SBU blocks several pro-Russian propagandist networks

During September 2020, the SBU ​​Department of CI Protection of the State’s Interests in the Sphere of Information Security blocked the activities of several regional propagandist networks, who tried to undermine the situation in Ukraine in the run-up of the local elections. The attackers posted information on the social media with appeals to overthrow the constitutional order and violate the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

In particular, SBU cyber experts terminated the illegal activities of an SMM specialist, a resident of Sumy region. Following the task of Russian citizens, he promoted the ideas of territorial division of Ukraine and exacerbation of the socio-political situation on the eve of the local elections via fake profiles in a botnet.

In Kherson region, SBU operatives exposed an Internet agitprop on calling for change of territorial boundaries in the banned Russian social network. The offender, acting on the instructions of Russian supervisor, spread destructive information.

The cyber unit of the SBU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region has stopped the illegal activity of a local resident who, violating the Constitution, disseminated information with calls for change of the Ukrainian borders.

Procedural and investigative actions are underway.

Within the initiated criminal proceedings, the Internet agitprops from Zaporizzhia and Volyn regions have been prosecuted for propagansda of forcible change of the constitutional order, seizure of the state power, and incite ethnic hatred.

In addition, SBU CI specialists revealed in Odesa region a manager of online store and Telegram-channel used for trafficking of drug, psychotropics, its analogues and precursors. During the investigation, law enforcement officers send the seized narcotic substances and computers with evidence for the further examinations.
