Dnipro city: SBU exposes corruption scheme during public procurement
In Dnipro city, the SBU exposed a corruption scheme during public procurement procedures held by municipal enterprises and local self-government bodies.
During the pre-trial investigation, the SBU established that the head of a municipal enterprise of Dnipro City Council exerted an undue influence on the procedure and results of tenders. He contributed to the win in open tenders only for those businesspersons, whose officials agreed to give him a bribe.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, the law enforcement officers documented the head of the municipal enterprise on systematic bribe taking from the businesspersons.
The law enforcement conducted 32 searches of the offices and residences of Dnipro City Council officials, the municipal enterprise and a number of business entities in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizzhia regions. The seized evidence of the illegal activity will be attached to the pre-trial investigation materials.
The head of the municipal enterprise was served a notice of suspicion of taking a bribe. The issue of choosing custody as a form of detention to three officials of municipal enterprises is being settled.
Apart from that, the SBU exposed officials of one of the Departments of Dnipro City Council on embezzlement of local budget by prior conspiracy with the director of a private enterprise.
The officials entered false information in official documents about the cost and volume of work performed during the repair of housing facilities. As a result, the budget suffered UAH 300,000 (USD 10,600) losses.
The director of the private enterprise was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation. The issue of choosing a form of detention is being settled.
The investigation is ongoing, other persons involved are being identified.
