Long-range sanctions in action: results of the previous week of the SSU’s 40-day operation
Last week, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a series of long-range strikes against strategic military and fuel and energy facilities in the aggressor state. All these special operations are part of a comprehensive campaign approved by the President of Ukraine to systematically reduce russian military and economic potential.
The following targets, in particular, were struck:
russian ‘shadow fleet’
- The tanker ‘Blue’ — the SSU’s Sea Baby maritime drone struck a Suezmax-class tanker belonging to the russian ‘shadow fleet’. The vessel was located near the temporarily occupied Yalta, within Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone. Despite russian air force attempts to intercept the maritime drone, the Sea Baby successfully struck the tanker's stern.
- The tanker is subject to sanctions imposed by the EU, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Ukraine for transporting russian oil in circumvention of international restrictions.
Fuel and energy infrastructure
- The ‘Cherkasy’ oil pumping station (Bashkortostan) is one of the key components of the ‘Transneft–Ural’ system, located 1,500 km from Ukraine’s state border. At least eight SSU attack drones struck the station’s tank farm and production facilities. Nearly 2 million tonnes of petroleum products are transported through this facility every year.
- The ‘Chervona Zoria’ oil depot (Tver Oblast) — a fire started on the facility following strikes carried out by Ukrainian drones. The oil depot is used for the reception, storage, and release of petrol and diesel fuel.
- The ‘Stavropolska’ oil depot (Stavropol Krai) — another key element of russian fuel logistics. A large-scale fire broke out at the facility following the strike.
- A tank with petroleum products and a pumping station at the ‘TPP-Terminal-1’ oil depot in Kerch.
Oil infrastructure
- The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery and the ‘Yaroslavl’ oil pumping station (Yaroslavl Oblast) — one of the largest oil refineries in russia.
- The oil loading terminal at the ‘Vysotsk’ seaport (Leningrad Oblast) — following the strike, two oil loading stands were put out of action and three tanks containing petroleum products were damaged.
- The ‘First Plant’ oil refinery (Kaluha Oblast) — a fire broke out at the facility following a strike by Ukrainian drones.
Military infrastructure
- The Hvardiiske airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea — three hangars with aircraft equipment were hit.
- A ‘Pantsir-C2’ air defence missile system near Simferopol and a mobile fire group in Kerch were also targeted.
- In Kurakhove and Hranitne (Donetsk Region) the locations where UAV unit crews were stationed were struck; warehouses with drones and their combat components, as well as ground control stations for unmanned systems, were destroyed.
- In Sorokine (Luhansk region), a depot containing large-calibre weapons was struck. Following the strike, a large-scale fire broke out, and ammunition continued to detonate.
The SSU systematically brings the war back to Russian territory and carries out strikes in the temporarily occupied territories, weakening the military and economic infrastructure of the aggressor state. Thanks to such special operations, the enemy is paying an increasingly high price for every day of the war against Ukraine.
