The SSU Main Directorate for Internal Security is stepping up its systematic fight against enemy agents and criminal schemes that threaten state security.

The Directorate is also intensifying its efforts to remove individuals from the Service who have acted to the detriment of Ukraine’s state security. Furthermore, the department is strengthening measures to protect staff members who are being targeted by the russian intelligence services.

Since the beginning of 2026, the Service has initiated 186 criminal proceedings based on internal security investigations, naming 151 individuals as suspects, 48 of whom are SSU officials.

‘Cleansing the SSU of russian agents, traitors, and corrupt officials is key for the Security Service’s successful and effective operation. This is one of the most important issues under my personal supervision, and I have reported on it to the President. There will be a stern and inevitable response to every such case, regardless of the individual’s position, rank, or previous merits. We also must strengthen the protection of our staff. For those who expose enemy agents to be sure that the adversary will not attack them from behind,’ said the SSU Acting Head Major-General Oleksandr Poklad.

In the last week alone, the SSU Main Directorate for Internal Security uncovered five offences involving passing of restricted information to the enemy and spying on SSU personnel.

Notably, a mole was uncovered within a local Security Service unit in the Odesa region. The individual had been recruited by the russian intelligence services and passed classified information about Defence Forces personnel and law enforcement officers to the ruscists.

In addition, a notary who had been passing intelligence on Security Service staff has been exposed in the Kyiv region.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had been searching government information resources and passing the obtained information to russian citizens collaborating with the russian intelligence services.

In the Zhytomyr region, an SSU officer was detained for disclosing data from Ukrainian law enforcement information systems to unauthorised individuals.

Another suspect detained is a fraudster who sold fake IDs resembling genuine SSU identity cards to draft evaders. He was apprehended in the Kyiv region.

In Zakarpattia, the SSU Internal Security Directorate, in conjunction with the State Bureau of Investigation, notified two serving Security Service officers of suspicion of organising a channel to smuggle conscripts across Ukraine’s state border.

The persons involved in the crimes have been declared suspects under several Articles of the CCU, according to offences each of them committed:

• 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
• 114 (espionage);
• 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations);
• 182 (violation of the right to privacy);
• 332 (illegal smuggling of persons across Ukraine’s state border);
• 368.3 (accepting an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit as a public official).

The perpetrators face up to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operational and investigative measures were carried out by the SSU Main Directorate for Internal Security, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and regional Prosecutors’ Offices.
