SBU CI blocks illegal migration of foreigners to EU
The SBU CI exposed and blocked illegal migration of foreigners from Ukraine to EU countries.
Allegedly, an Asian citizen organized such illegal business. He had Ukrainian residence permit and worked at one of Kyiv markets to cover up his illegal activity.
The offender searched for clients in Kyiv and Lviv cities among foreigners, in particular, people from the Middle East and Central Asia. For USD 2,500 per person, the offender helped his “clients” to cross the state border avoiding checkpoints.
In accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the SBU officers detained the offender on preparing to traffic four illegal migrants in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The investigation is ongoing within the criminal proceedings initiated for illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine The issues of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee and choosing the type of detention are being settled. The SBU is verifying the involvement of illegal migrants in possible crimes in Ukraine and abroad.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv region.
