SBU counterintelligence prevents export of equipment for warships from Ukraine
The SBU CI prevented illegal smuggling of dual-use technological equipment abroad. Under the guise of civilian goods, foreign customers planned to receive components for warships.
Allegedly, the illegal scheme was organized by representatives of a local company specializing in the design and manufacture of ship and industrial ventilation systems. They tried to smuggle state-controlled goods to one of the Central American countries.
The offenders entered false information about the goods’ origin and the scope of its further use.
The SBU seized dual-use goods at the customs post.
Law enforcement sent the seized equipment for examination. The issue of serving suspicion notices to the organizers and participants of illegal activities is being resolved.
Within the criminal proceedings initiated for violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control, investigative and operative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the offense.
The operation was carried out jointly with the State Customs Service.
