Cherkasy region: SSU exposes dealer who appropriated and sold military ammunition intended for Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to the investigation, a former military serviceman, resident of Uman, organized a criminal scheme of selling military ammunition and equipment. These goods were manufactured at Ukrainian enterprises exclusively for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and were not intended for sale.

However, the fraudster established illegal links with the production shops. In this way he, instead of the Army, received a consignment of uniforms and protective equipment worth over UAH 2 mln (USD 60,000).

The fraudster sold these goods to volunteers, mobilized local residents, and through online platforms.

During searches of the suspect’s home and garage equipped as a warehouse, the law enforcement seized:

  • over 500 sets of military uniform;
  • military boots and other footwear;
  • buffs, balaclavas, hats;
  • camouflage suits and chemical protection suits;
  • a batch of plate carriers and other military equipment.

Within the criminal proceedings under Article 198 (acquisition, receipt, storage or sale of property obtained by criminal means) of the CCU, investigative actions are underway to establish and prosecute all those involved.

Currently, the SSU is preparing to hand over the seized goods to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
