A nationwide charity tournament, Professional Sambo League 8.0, was held in Kyiv in honour of the Security Service of Ukraine’s Alfa Special Operations Centre.

The event featured 10 professional bouts conducted under combat sambo rules, including two title fights for the League championship belt.

‘We must always remember the price our soldiers pay on the front lines so that Ukrainians in the rear can grow, develop, and compete on sports fields. Sport unites people, fostering determination, dedication, and strength of character – qualities that are highly valued in the military. The Alfa Special Operations Centre is one of the most elite units of the Defence Forces. Its members not only defend Ukraine’s independence on the front lines but also carry out unique special operations recognized worldwide. It is a great honour for me to be part of this team,’ said Serhiy Stakhovsky, a Ukrainian tennis player and current member of Alfa.
