Kharkiv region: SBU CI detains organizer on legalizing of undocumented immigrants
SBU CI officers exposed and stopped illegal immigrant legalization of Russians in Ukraine.
Allegedly, a resident of Kharkiv city promised a North Caucasus native, who have Russian citizenship, to obtain Ukrainian as well. In particular, the offender guaranteed to provide a set of forged documents, which were to be the basis for the State Migration Service to issue national and foreign biometric passports of Ukraine. The cost of such “services” was USD 5,000.
As a result, SBU officers detained the organizer in the State Migration Service department, located in the outskirts of Kharkiv, after passing a Ukrainian biometric passport to customer in abroad.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing within the criminal proceedings initiated for illegal migration of persons through Ukraine’s borders. The offender was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of serving a suspicion notice and choosing a type of detention to the detainee is being resolved.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Department of State Migration Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv region under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv region.
