Luhansk region: SBU finds cache of militants’ subversive group

In Luhansk region, the SBU discovered a cache with weapons, ammunition and explosives. The seized inventory included a Russian-made Fagot anti-tank missile system and a Smel flamethrower.

According to findings, the cache was equipped by members of a subversive group involved in the 2014 bombings of critical infrastructure in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The law enforcement seized from the cache, equipped in the premises of an abandoned plant in Lysychansk, the following items:

  • five RPG-22 and RPG-26 jet anti-tank grenades,
  • more than 100 grenade rounds,
  • 24 artillery shells,
  • almost eight kilos of TNT,
  • more than a kilo of plastid,
  • ten grenades of various types,
  • two mortar mines,
  • antipersonnel mine,
  • cumulative charge,
  • six detonators,
  • two smoke bombs,
  • 17 fuses of different types,
  • more than 8,000 various caliber rounds.

The discovered weapons were sent for examination. The issue of initiating criminal proceedings for illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives is to be resolved.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police and the State Emergency Service.
