SBU officers detained former head of the Zatoka Local Council hiding from investigative authorities.

From March 2019 the detainee held the office in Zatoka. On February 22, 2020 the Kyiv District Court in Odesa removed him from his office. The official is involved in several criminal proceedings. The SBU suspects him of abuse of office, embezzlement of public funds, scams with land resources and organized attempt on a lawyer’s life.

Law enforcers established temporary residence of the suspect and detained him in a rented apartment in Odesa.

The Kyiv Distirct Court in Odesa decided to take the ex-official into custody for two months without a right to be released on bail.

During 2020 due to materials of the SBU Directorate in Odesa Region twelve notices of suspicion were served to accomplices of the former head of the Zatoka Local Council. Materials of criminal proceedings against seven persons are forwarded to the Court and five persons study materials of pretrial investigations.
