Poltava region: USD 200,000 for head of state agency post
In Poltava region, the SBU exposed an illegal scheme related to “sale” of top state posts. For USD 200,000, the organizer promised to lobby the applicant’s candidacy for a state post.
The SBU employees documented that the offenders, including former law enforcement officers, offered the candidate the position of the head of the North-Eastern Interregional Main Department of the State Inspection of Urban Development. In fact, the offenders had no opportunity to influence the appointment.
The law enforcement officers detained one of the group members on receiving an advance of USD 20,000.
The investigation is ongoing. The SBU officers are currently conducting searches of the offenders' residences. The detainee is to be served a suspicion notice of fraud committed in especially large sizes.
The operation was carried out jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in Poltava city, under the supervision of the Poltava Region Prosecutor's Office.
