In Vinnytsia region, the SBU documented illegal logging on the territory of Ministry of Defense .

Allegedly, officials of the military forestry, including the chief engineer, unlawfully sold precious woods from the territory of a departmental facility. To carry out the deal, the suspects entered false data into the accounting records on the timber quantity and forest health. The unaccounted wood raw materials were sold to local commercial structures.

Reportedly, illicit business of officials caused over UAH 260,000 (USD 9,286) damages to the state.

The chief forestry engineer and his subordinate were served notices of suspicion of illegal logging, transportation, storage, or sale of wood.

Investigations are ongoing to bring to justice other persons involved in the illegal activity.

The exposure of the criminals was conducted jointly the Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia region under the supervision of the Vinnytsia Garrison Military Prosecutor's Office.
