In the Zakarpattia region, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a citizen of Russia on attempt to import firearms into our country.

During customs control the law enforcement officers found two CZ SCORPION EVO 3S1 9x21 submachine guns among the citizen's personal belongings. To avoid exposure, the foreigner hid the weapon in children's toys.

Law enforcers detained malefactor in accordance with the Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 1 Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of serving to the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing the crime is being decided.

Investigation is ongoing.

The detection and blocking of smuggling was conducted jointly with the Customs of the Zakarpattia region of the State Customs Service, under the procedural supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
