The SBU jointly with the National Police exposed officials of the defense plant on state funds embezzlement. Their illegal activity led to poor repair of armored vehicles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Allegedly, within the implementation of the State Defense Order of the Ministry of Defense, the materials for combat vehicles repair were purchased from a private enterprise in Kyiv city. Contrary to existing legislation, a proper state certificate of goods quality was not provided.

Chemical expertise established that the purchased goods do not meet the requirements of the State Standard. This directly affects the quality of welding of armoured parts.

According to experts, this poses a threat to life and health of a crew of a combat vehicle.

During the searches at state enterprise and supplier company’s headquarters in Kyiv, the law enforcement seized a low-quality welding goods, relevant technical documentation, chemical test results and other materials that may be evidence of illegal activity.

Pre-trial investigation is ongoing within the criminal proceedings initiated for misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation.

Low-quality welding goods were eliminated.

The operation was conducted under the legal supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Zhytomyr garrison.
