Over 800 pieces of russian military equipment destroyed by ‘White Wolf’ of SSU Special Operations Centre ‘A’ during two years of war (video)
The White Wolf unit, which is part of the SSU Special Operations Centre ‘A’, has already destroyed over 800 units of russian military equipment on the frontline.
The documentary SSU: Special Forces of Victory describes the formation of the unit and its work in the hottest spots.
‘White Wolf operates successfully and efficiently along the entire frontline. The operation to liberate Izium district deserves special mention. Before the Defence Forces entered it, our ‘wolves’ burned the enemy’s ‘armoured fist’... This is a truly unique unit made up of top servicemen capable of performing any extremely complex operational and combat task,’ the SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk said.
The unit consists of patriotic volunteers who became part of the SSU Special Operations Centre ‘A’ at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Since then, they have participated in operations to liberate Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, areas of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson oblasts.
‘White Wolf’s most striking result is the amount of enemy equipment they destroyed: at least 800 units since the beginning of the full-scale aggression*. They also destroyed about 300 other targets –fortifications, depots and firing positions,’ emphasizes Yevhen Khmara, head of the SSU Special Operations Centre ‘A’.
According to Oleh Yemets, the White Wolf commander, the unit burned more than 50 russian tanks in Kharkiv oblast alone. This weakened the enemy’s defences and allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to liberate the territory with minimal losses and very quickly.
‘Our unit cooperates extensively with the AFU. We carry out assault operations together. Sometimes they copy our approach to combat, and it’s nice when they are trying to get drones with similar characteristics to train their personnel,’ Oleh Yemets adds.
According to him, White Wolf specializes in the use of drones and was one of the first to combine their reconnaissance and strike functions. Since then, the unit has focused on training and development of such military professions as pilots, navigators, gunners and sappers.
‘They are inflicting successful fire damage with the help of attack copters by dropping the ammo on the target,’ explains Vasyl Maliuk.
In the film, White Wolf fighters gave many examples of their combat work, including how one crew destroyed 13 pieces of enemy equipment overnight. They also shared their feelings about the loss of their comrade Oleksandr Engel (‘Botsman’) in Kharkiv region, as well as talked about their personal motivation to fight until Victory.
According to Vasyl Maliuk, many of the unit’s servicemen have received state awards for their courage.
The film SSU: Special Forces of Victory was produced by the Ukrainian Producers Hub with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and directed by Artur Lerman.
