Dear citizens!

Independence is the highest value for our people. No invader has ever succeeded in destroying the Ukrainians’ desire to be free and to live on our land.

Having our own state was the dream of many generations. On 24 August 1991, that dream became a reality when Ukraine seized a historic opportunity and regained its independence.

As we mark these 35 years of independence, we recall many trials. The most difficult of these – the full-scale war – is still ongoing. The enemy is doing everything in its power to subjugate the Ukrainian people. Our task is to prevent this, preserving a peaceful and independent country for our descendants.

To this end, the Security Service of Ukraine is working around the clock. Our personnel conduct special operations, expose spy networks, counter sabotage and terrorism, and defend the state against internal threats and directly on the front line.

I am deeply grateful to every member of the SSU who is defending Ukraine today – those fighting on the front line, those professionally fulfilling their duties in towns near the front line and in the rear, and those whose daily service often goes unnoticed, but which makes our state stronger.

The enemy seeks to wear Ukraine down through a protracted struggle. But we will do everything to ensure that the country not only survives but also thrives, shaping its own future and destiny.
