This is evidenced by the invaders’ conversations intercepted by the SSU. One of the occupiers near Kharkiv calls his mother in Russia and asks her to get help from a fortune teller she knows. He begs for a special ritual to protect him from being hit by Ukrainian shells.

In response, his mother reminds that ‘for protection’ the invader should not forget to put Saint George’s ribbon in his pocket. He assures that he is wrapped in those ribbons completely. But he’s not venturing out without the ritual.

We appeal to the Russian invaders and their relatives: you don’t need to perform rituals for survival. You’d better get out of Ukraine – this will save your life.

Because if you stay on our land, the only ritual for you will be funeral.
