SSU seizes property of former education minister of Yanukovych era worth over USD 2 mln
Following the SSU’s investigation, court seized property of former minister of education and science Dmytro Tabachnyk, suspected of high treason.
The seized assets are worth over USD 2 mln and include real estate, land and money in foreign currency.
To ‘hide’ the assets from possible confiscation in favour of the state, the suspect ‘reregistered’ them to his relatives in advance.
However, the SSU exposed this ‘scheme’ and received a court order to seize the assets of the ex-member of the party of regions.
The assets include:
- ½ of an apartment in the historic part of Kyiv with an area of 126 m2;
- a residential house of over 600 m2;
- 5 land plots in an elite cottage town near the capital with a total area of almost 1 hectare;
- bank account with USD 147,000.
In November last year, following the SSU’s investigation, Dmytro Tabachnyk was served a notice of suspicion under the Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
According to the investigation, the ex-minister took an active part in organizing the sham referenda in the occupied districts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
For this purpose, he personally consulted local gauleiters and prepared a draft memo to russia’s Deputy Prime Minister regarding armed protection of the ‘polling stations’.
The traitor is currently hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The SSU is acting to bring the offender to prosecution for crimes against Ukraine.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
