SSU seizes ship of russian shadow fleet that transported 5,000 tons of looted Ukrainian grain from Crimea

The Security Service has detained and arrested a foreign ship that was helping russia steal Ukrainian agricultural products from the temporarily occupied regions.

The dry cargo ship was detained as a result of a special operation by the SSU and the State Border Service in the internal waters of Ukraine’s Black Sea zone.

The investigation established that the arrested vessel was part of russia’s shadow fleet, which the kremlin uses to sell looted Ukrainian grain to third states.

According to the investigation, at the end of 2024 the dry cargo ship transported 5,000 tons of wheat stolen from the temporarily occupied territory of southern Ukraine from the port of Sevastopol.

To conceal the crimes, the vessel carried out an illegal raid under the flag of an Asian country.

Documents, navigation equipment and other material evidence confirming the facts of looting of Ukrainian agricultural products by ruscists were found during the search.

Following the arrest of the dry cargo ship and the detention of its crew, investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the kremlin’s crimes and bring those responsible to justice.

The operational and investigative actions were carried out by SSU Offices in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Odesa region together with the maritime security units of the State Border Guard Service and the Navy of the AFU, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
