SBU exposes Internet agitator coordinated by Russian curators

SBU Cybersecurity officers exposed and blocked activity of an Internet agitator coordinated by Russian curators to promote totalitarian regimes.

Law enforcement identified the agitator is a Kyiv resident and a member of the pro-Russian organization “Regional Rusophil Civil Movement “PARUS”. Following instructions, the suspect posted provocative materials in banned social media. Using different accounts, he promoted communist and Nazi ideology under the guise of the Ukrainian Right-wingers before the local elections. The propaganda was intended to deteriorate the social situation in the country during elections.

SBU Cybersecurity experts established that the agitator also commented on the notorious Decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to the best advantage of his curators.

At present, possible cooperation of the perpetrator with Russian special services through the pro-Russian organization is being checked.

During the authorized searches, the law enforcement seized computer equipment and means of communication proving the illegal activity.

Investigative actions are ongoing. The agitator is to be served a notice of suspicion.
