SBU blocks sale of smuggled drugs of dubious quality
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an international group that was engaged in smuggling and selling drugs of cardiovascular, oncological and reproductive group of unconfirmed origin.
Allegedly, members of the group from Kyiv and Kharkiv region illegally received drugs unregistered in Ukraine from Russia and one of the West Asian countries, using international postal services. The attackers offered the products on specialized on-line platforms and delivered them to customers by couriers and express delivery services. At the same time, they stockpiled and transported drugs without observing sanitary standards, in particular a temperature mode.
During searches of the suspects' residences and storage of smuggled products, law enforcement officers seized almost 2,500 packages of medical supplies of dubious quality for a total of over UAH 3000,000 (USD 111,000). The evidence of illegal activity and money allegedly obtained by unlawful actions was also found.
The seized drugs are planned to be sent for examination.
Within the framework of previously initiated criminal proceedings, investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the offense and bring to justice those involved in the transactions.
