The SBU exposed and blocked a scheme of embezzlement of budget funds. The money were allocated for the repair of a boat intended for maintenance of critical infrastructure.

Officers of the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's  Interests in the Sphere of Economic Security established that the boat belongs to the State Hydrographic Service and is used for navigational hydrographic support of maritime safety on inland waterways and in the coastal areas of the Black and Azov Seas.

The operatives documented that in 2018, the government agency concluded the agreement with the contractor. In accordance with the terms of the agreement, the State Hydrographic Service transferred an advance of UAH 11.7 m. (USD 420 thousand) to the contractor's account.

Instead, the work was performed for only UAH 3.6 m. ( USD 130 thousand), and the rest was embezzled by the head of the contractor company.

As a result, the state suffered losses of UAH 8 m. (USD 280 thousand).

Kyiv Local Prosecutor's Office No. 7 served the offender a notice of suspicion of embezzlement committed in office.
