SSU, SBI and PGO detain aides to Ukrainian MPs involved in mobilisation evasion schemes
The Security Service, together with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office, has exposed two aides to current members of the Ukrainian Parliament for their involvement in mobilisation evasion schemes.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators offered conscripts the opportunity to dodge conscription for USD 16,000 by using forged medical documents or by illegally crossing the border to the EU.
It has been documented that the MPs’ aides offered ‘clients’:
- fictitious conclusions from the military medical commission regarding unfitness for service due to health conditions;
- certificates of ‘disability’;
- fake IDs from volunteer units of one of the region’s territorial communities.
The investigation confirmed that upon receiving full payment, the operators immediately severed all communication, blocking their clients’ contacts and vanishing.
The law enforcement documented the crimes of both suspects and apprehended them red-handed after they received the payment.
Smartphones containing evidence of the scheme and money obtained through criminal means were seized during the search.
The organisers of the scheme have been notified of suspicion under Article 190.4 of the CCU (large-scale fraud).
The decision on measures of restraint is pending. The suspects face up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region in cooperation with the State Bureau of Investigation under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
