SSU is ready to promptly respond to any destabilization scenario - Ivan Bakanov visiting JFO area

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with other authorities, is ready to promptly respond to any scenario that could destabilize the internal situation in the country. This was stated by the Head of the SSU Ivan Bakanov on February 19 during a working trip to the Joint Forces Operation area.

‘We pay special attention to the security of critical infrastructure, we have strengthened counterintelligence. The SSU is conducting drills in all regions of Ukraine with an emphasis on protection of state border and strategic facilities, counteraction to possible terrorist attacks and sabotage,’ Ivan Bakanov informed.

According to the Head of the Security Service, the aggressor state is now using a whole range of tools to pressure Ukraine. However, the SSU Head called on Ukrainians to remain calm, not to panic and rely on information from official and verified sources.

‘Disinformation is a major element of hybrid warfare. Calm, critical thinking and responsibility are what we need today. The strength of Ukraine is not only in a powerful army, but also in the unity of every one of us. Together, we are able to defend Ukraine,’ Ivan Bakanov summarized.

During the visit to the frontline territory of Donetsk region, the SSU Head Ivan Bakanov together with the NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov evaluated the security situation in the area and visited the defensive positions of Ukrainian military.

Earlier in 2021, in Donetsk and Luhansk regions alone, the SSU  detained 14 militants of illegal armed formations and 11 agents of the so-called Ministry of State Security of L/DNR, as well as prevented 4 terrorist attacks in Eastern Ukraine.
