SSU and SBI search homes and companies of former MP and russian oligarch possibly involved in billion-dollar corruption schemes

The SSU and the SBI have carried out a series of searches within the criminal proceeding on abuse of office by officials of the PJSC ‘NJSC Nadra of Ukraine’.

The investigative actions took place at the suspects’ homes and in the offices of the companies, the ultimate beneficiaries of which are a russian oligarch and a member of Ukraine’s Parliament of the VIII convocation.

As a result of the searches, the law enforcement found and seized:

  • draft records and documentation confirming unlawful transactions of commercial entities under their control;
  • communications and computer equipment;
  • about USD 300,000, EUR 250,000 and UAH 1.5 mln in cash.

According to the investigation, as a result of unlawful actions of officials of Nadra of Ukraine and several other commercial entities, Ukraine lost the right to the Sakhalinske oil and gas field in Kharkiv region.

Over UAH 1 bln from the state budget had been spent on the development of this field. According to geological exploration data, gas deposits at this site are assessed at least 15 billion cubic meters.

Criminal proceeding was initiated under the Article 364 of the CCU (abuse of power or office). The investigation is underway.

The SSU and the SBI are conducting the investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
