SSU and SBI expose leadership and key saboteurs of elite russian special forces who committed high-profile sabotage in Ukraine and EU

The SSU and the State Bureau of Investigations have identified the entire command staff and key employees of one of the most secretive enemy special services - the special operations forces of the russian armed forces.

One of them is the current commander, major general Valeriy Flustikov, and former putin’s bodyguard Alexei Dyumin, who in 2014 commanded the GRU special purpose unit.

Based on the evidence collected, both mentioned persons and 25 other servicemen of russia’s SOF, as well as their accomplices from among the ‘L/DNR’ militants, have been notified of suspicion under Article 113 of the CCU (sabotage).

russia’s SOF have been involved in high-profile murders and terrorist attacks in Ukraine and the European Union, including an attack on a military facility in the Czech Republic.

Given the ‘specificity’ of their missions, the SOF report to the chief of the general staff, and in some cases - directly to putin.

The investigation established that, on the kremlin’s instructions, the servicemen of this entity organised the explosion at the joint missile and artillery depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Svatove, Luhansk region, in 2015.

As a result of a multi-stage operation, the SSU and the SBI established the entire sequence of preparation and execution of this terrorist attack, as well as identified its organisers and perpetrators.

According to the investigation, the russian special operations forces used a Leer-3 electronic warfare system and three Orlan-10 drones to blow up the arsenal.

On 29 October 2015, these weapons were moved from the temporarily occupied Donetsk to the frontline positions of the ‘L/DNR’ militants near Pervomaisk, Luhansk region.

From there, the aggressor launched drones to the AFU depot in Svatove. As the drones approached the site, they dropped incendiary grenades with parachute systems.

As a result of the hits, the entire ammunition stock stored there detonated.

The SSU and the SBI, in cooperation with Czech partners, also established the involvement of this russian force in the attack on an arms depot in Vrbetice, Czech Republic, in 2014.

In such a way, the kremlin was trying to weaken the defence potential of NATO’s eastern flank and undermine the internal situation in Central Europe.

Since the full-scale invasion, saboteurs from the russian SOF have periodically attacked Ukraine’s Defence Forces in the border areas in the north and east of Ukraine.

During these ‘raids’, their subversive groups try to attack the AFU and SBGS servicemen and blow up their military facilities.

Local civilians, their homes and cars are also often ‘targeted’ by these saboteurs.

The SSU has identified the persons involved in the above-mentioned crimes against Ukraine and the EU.

Efforts are underway to bring them to justice.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
