SSU and National Police detain another four russian accomplices who burned defenders’ cars in Odesa region
The SSU and the National Police have apprehended another four agents of russian intelligence services who carried out arson attacks in Odesa oblast. The enemy was targeting vans and off-road vehicles of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
This time, the enemy remotely recruited two Odesa residents, a displaced person from Luhansk region and a resident of Izmail district for the arsons. Three of the perpetrators are minors.
All of them were looking for easy money in Telegram channels, where they came to the attention of the occupiers.
The arsonists found potential targets and then waited for approval from their russian handlers.
After setting the vehicles on fire, they filmed the burning on their phones and sent the video to the russian intelligence.
The perpetrators destroyed 6 service vehicles of Ukrainian defenders, but never received any promised money from russia.
The SSU apprehended the suspects in hot pursuit in different districts of Odesa region. During the searches, the investigators seized tools used for the arsons and mobile phones with evidence of sabotage against Ukraine.
The SSU notified the detained individuals of suspicion under the following Articles of the CCU:
- 28.2, 114-1.1 (obstructing lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations, during a special period);
- 194.2 (intentional damage to property by arson).
The suspects are in custody and face 8 to 10 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Odesa Office under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
