SSU identifies russian OMON servicemen who ‘hunted’ for Ukrainian patriots during occupation of Zaporizhzhia region

The SSU continues to expose war crimes of the aggressor state’s occupation groups.

As a result of operational and investigative activities, the SSU identified another three russian invaders, who took part in abductions and torture of civilians in the temporarily occupied districts of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

One of the perpetrators is the commander of a tactical group of the 22nd separate operational brigade of russia’s national guard.

After the capture of Melitopol, he was appointed ‘military commandant’ in the occupation administration of the Ukrainian city.

In this ‘position’, the serviceman performed moscow’s tasks to suppress the resistance movement in the Azov region.

To do this, he formed ‘punitive squads’ that carried out raids on homes of local residents.

During such ‘raids’, ruscists abducted people and brought them to the jail in the russian ‘military commandant’s office.’

There, they ‘beat out’ of their victims information on Ukrainian patriots in the district.

The other two war criminals are officers of Makhachkala special purpose police squad (known as OMON) of russia’s national guard in the republic of Dagestan.

When Vasylivka district was occupied, they joined the ‘commandant’s office’. One of them became the ‘deputy head’ of the occupation entity, the other - his assistant.

The investigation established that the two ruscists had personally participated in illegal detention and torture of Ukrainian citizens, used poisonous chemicals and electric current against their victims and threatened to kill their close relatives.

SSU investigators notified the three individuals of suspicion of crime under the Articles 28.2 and 438.1 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war).

The SSU is acting to bring the russian war criminals to justice.

The SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
