SSU shuts down a smuggling channel from Transdnistria
In Odesa region, the SSU disrupted a channel of smuggling consumer goods from Transdnistrian region of Moldova.
Bypassing customs checkpoints, an unemployed local, resident of Podilsk, was transporting goods across the state border in his own car. The value of just one batch reached UAH 10 mln (USD 371,000).
The smuggler has been engaged in such ‘business’ for at least six months.
The law enforcement detained the vehicle near Novokrasne village, close to the state border of Ukraine. Almost 10 cubic meters of imported consumer goods were found in the cargo compartment of the truck.
The car with the load has been handed over to Odessa customs. The offender has been informed of the contents of the Protocol on Administrative Offence drawn up in relation to the episode.
The investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activity and identify the individuals involved.
The SSU Office in Odesa region carried out the operation together with the State Border Guard Service and the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
