SSU dismantles large-scale network of Internet agents who called for support of Russian aggression

The SSU continues to prevent and neutralize information and subversive activities of Russian special services against our state. The SSU has dismantled an extensive network of agents who publicly supported the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The information sabotage groups included over 20 members. Among them were 7 Internet agents of Russian special services, who positioned themselves as ‘public opinion leaders’.

During searches of the suspects’ places of stay, the law enforcement officers seized computers, equipment and communication devices with evidence of criminal activity against the state security of Ukraine.

As a result of an operation in Kyiv and Lviv, a ‘blogger’ of one of the most popular Telegram channels and Internet portals of Ukraine was detained. He called for support of the Russian occupiers.

Criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of lawfulness, denial of armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine, glorification of its participants) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainee will be notified of suspicion. The court is to decide on the measure of restraint.

In Khmelnytskyi:

Following the SSU investigation, the court convicted an Internet agent of Russian special services to 4 years in prison with confiscation of property. The agent spread calls on social networks to seize state power in Ukraine.

He also spread ‘appeals’ to the Ukrainian military to join the illegal armed groups of the so-called L/DNR.

The court found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 109 (actions aimed at forcible change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power) of the CCU.

In Kyiv region:

The SSU detained two local residents who campaigned for an aggressive war against our state and change of Ukrainian borders. In addition, they spread posts in the Internet in support of Russia's recognition of the so-called ‘independence’ of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

In Cherkasy:

The SSU exposed another hostile agent. The offender distributed banned in Ukraine materials in support of Russian aggression through social networks. He also reposted ‘publications’ promoting ruscist pilots who bombed Ukrainian cities and killed civilians.

In Odesa:

The SSU neutralized information and subversive activities of a local resident. Tasked by Russian supervisors, he distributed ‘posts’ about changing the state borders and promoted an aggressive war against Ukraine.

Upon all the revealed facts of criminal activity, investigations are underway to identify and bring to justice all persons involved in the aggression against our state.
