SSU, National Police and SBI expose collaborator who worked at ‘russian MIA district department’ during Kherson’s occupation

The Security Service of Ukraine, in collaboration with the National Police and the State Bureau of Investigation, has exposed another collaborator who worked for the enemy during the occupation of Kherson. As a result of the operation, a former security guard at the ‘district department of the russian ministry of internal affairs’ that operated after the city was captured in 2022 has been detained.

The perpetrator was directly involved in repressions carried out by russian occupying forces in the regional centre, which was under their control at the time.

While serving as an ‘assistant to the duty officer’, he was responsible for recording the names of members of the resistance movement who had been abducted and imprisoned in high-security cells.

Prior to 2022, the detainee had worked as a general labourer at a local metal-processing plant.

Following the occupation of Kherson, he agreed to join the ‘Dniprovskyi district department of the russian MIA’, set up by the ruscists.

After the city was liberated, the collaborator fled to Mykolaiv, hoping to lay low.

To this end, he took a job as a security guard at a local café and arranged to live on the premises to avoid attracting attention.

The SSU found the suspect and detained him near his workplace.

Based on the Service’s findings, he was declared a suspect under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).

The enemy accomplice is in custody without bail and faces up to 15 years in prison and confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Kherson region in conjunction with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Security Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
