SBU publishes additional evidence proving illegal supply of munitions from Russia
The SBU publishes new evidence proving illegal supply of munitions from Russia. The relevant information was presented during today’s special briefing of the SBU and Prosecutor General’s Office.
To remind, the SBU is investigating the illegal import of military spare parts and dual-use goods from Russia.
Allegedly, the scheme was set up by the former people’s deputy Semen Semenchenko and Yevhen Shevchenko aka “non-staff NABU agent”.
As of now, Yevhen Shevchenko and Andrii Rohoza (also suspect in a range of criminal cases and journalist investigations of corruption schemes in Ukroboronprom SE) received suspicion notices of violation of procedure of international transfers of goods subject to state export control. This information was made public by Oleh Holovash, the Chief of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
He noted that the exposure of the illegal scheme was a result of well-coordinated teamwork aimed to counteract the creation of illegal armed formations. “The existence of such IAFs is a threat to the state. Our work resulted in collecting a lot of evidence proving the unlawful activity ", - said Oleh Holovash.
Also, the law enforcement made public an audio recording of the scheme organizer’s telephone conversations. In addition, the law enforcement published the suspects’ Telegram correspondence.
"The established facts of the illegal supply of weapons from Russia show that the suspects have no desire to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine. They very driven by personal gains alone. The obtained data completely breaks down the myth that these individuals aimed to help the state. It is evident that they purchased these products (editor’s note: klystrons used to launch rockets of S-300 missile systems) at a price of USD 30,000, for further sale to defense enterprises for USD 200,000. Thus we see that upholding of state interests is out of the question in this case," said Konstiantyn Nevremzhytskyi, the chief of the 2d division of the SBU Main Directorate for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime.
“The investigative actions were conducted in accordance with the current criminal procedure law and under judicial control," added Yan Streliuk, a representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Note:
According to the Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved through legal procedure and established by a court verdict of guilty.
