SSU publishes new evidence in case of Deputy Energy Minister’s half-million bribe (video)

The SSU is publishing intercepted conversations of persons involved in large-scale corruption. The Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine is suspected of organizing this scheme.

According to the investigation, for a USD 500,000 bribe, the official promised the heads of state-owned enterprises of Lviv-Volyn coal basin to freely transfer mining equipment from the mines of a frontline area of Donetsk region.

The equipment in question is unique and scarce, located at one of the state-owned coal companies in the hottest area of the eastern frontline.

Earlier, the SSU and NABU, under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, uncovered this corruption scheme and detained four persons involved.

The court has chosen measures of restraint for all of them.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in line with the procedure defined by law and established by a court’s verdict.
