SSU receives new proof of use of banned weapons by russian troops when shelling cities

The SSU investigators obtained such evidence while documenting war crimes of russian military in Northern Saltivka, Kharkiv residential area, which is among the most damaged by enemy shelling.

According to preliminary experts’ conclusion, the occupiers used, among others, cluster munitions, banned in most civilized countries.

During the inspection, investigators documented destruction and damage of almost all buildings in this area, namely:

  • 4 preschool educational institutions,
  • 2 secondary schools,
  • 1 medical clinic,
  • 2 supermarkets,
  • 59 apartment buildings with 9, 12 and 16 floors.

During the inspection, numerous fragments of ammunition were collected for examination.

The SSU investigators are collecting and recording evidence of russian war crimes within the framework of the multi-episode criminal proceeding under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of laws and customs of war).

All evidence gathered on war crimes of russian military servicemen will be handed over to the International Criminal Court in the Hague to bring the culprits to justice.

The pre-trial investigation is conducted under the procedural supervision of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
