SSU receives testimony of Kupyansk resident: russian FSB tortured victims with electric current and burnt crosses on bodies with soldering iron (video)

Everyone who was interrogated by FSB in occupied Kupyansk had to go through terrifying abuse.

‘You could always hear loud screams from this room,’ recalls a resident of Kupyansk, illegally imprisoned by the russian occupation forces.

During the interrogations, FSB employees beat out of locals the names and addresses of ATO veterans, members of territorial defence and people with a pro-Ukrainian stance. The torturers threatened the victims with execution on a minefield and killing their families that remained under the occupation.

‘During the first interrogation, they were shocking me with electric current for 40 minutes, fired at me either from a pneumatic gun or a gas gun - I don’t know, I was in a bag... They beat me with bats or iron pipes,’ says the victim of russian torture. On some victims, they burnt crosses with soldering iron.

Conditions of detention of illegally imprisoned Ukrainians were also terrible: 8 people were held in a small cell designed for 2.

Such actions of russian occupying forces are qualified as torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment. This is clearly indicated in the 1984 UN Convention Against Torture, of which, by the way, russia is also a party.

Currently, the SSU is working to identify all residents of the de-occupied territories who suffered from torture by ruscists.

The SSU is making every effort to establish everyone involved in war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine. The culprits will have to be held to account by international courts.
