SSU detains russian agent who adjusted recent missile strikes on Kharkiv (video)

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained a russian agent, who helped the enemy launch missiles at Kharkiv on February 05, 2023.

The strike resulted in deaths of civilians and destruction of infrastructure.

According to the investigation, the agent is a local resident who collaborated with the russian military intelligence.

The traitor collected intelligence on locations of the AFU units, checkpoints and critical infrastructure facilities in Kharkiv region and passed it to the enemy.

Ruscists used the obtained data for missile attacks. After the strikes, they instructed the same agent to record and pass to them information on impact of the hits.

The SSU documented the suspect’s sabotage and reconnaissance activities, including his involvement in recent missile strikes on a residential building and a Kharkiv university, and identified his russian handlers.

As the investigation revealed, the informant contacted his supervisor through electronic communication channels, strictly complying to secrecy measures. The traitor went on ‘missions’ without a cell phone, trying, as he thought, to avoid being tracked. However, this did not prevent the SSU from detecting him.

The SSU detained the individual while he was performing another enemy assignment - collecting information on consequences of a missile strike on one of the city’s higher education institutions.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint.

The SSU Kharkiv Office carried out the operation with the assistance of the State Border Guard Service and the procedural guidance of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
