SSU shows wreckage of drone that attacked Chornobyl NPP and classifies this ruscist attack as war crime
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine have opened a criminal investigation into russia’s attack on the shelter of Unit 4 of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and are working at the scene together with other authorities.
At present, the radiation background on the territory of the Chernobyl NPP and in the exclusion zone does not exceed the permissible values. No release of radiation substances beyond the established limits was recorded.
Inside and near the shelter, the SSU found fragments of a russian drone hull with a warhead and serial number.
According to the investigation, the occupiers attacked the Chornobyl NPP with a kamikaze drone Geranium-2 of the Shahed type.
To maximize firepower, this attack drone was equipped with an explosive warhead.
According to experts, the ruscists deliberately targeted this particular object.
The hit damaged the structure of the shelter.
Comprehensive efforts are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the culprits to justice.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Article 438 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war).
The investigation is conducted under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
