SBU stops state enterprise bankruptcy

SBU officers documented fictitious bankruptcy scheme of the largest state-owned enterprise in the field of livestock business with an extensive network of regional branches. The attackers planned to appropriate 14 integral property complexes.

Allegedly, during 2018-2019, the state enterprise management signed several dozens of deliberately unprofitable contracts with the affiliated agricultural company. The officials facilitated the conclusion of contracts to provide economic services and agricultural products procurement at high prices.

Therefore, the commercial structure artificially formed a debt of more than UAH 60,000,000 (USD 2,222,223). The agricultural company tried to repay this fake debt at the expense of the state-owned enterprise’s property.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings, initiated by Part 3 Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the law enforcement conducted 18 searches at the offenders’ places of residence and offices in Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Odesa, Luhansk and Kyiv regions, as well as in Kyiv city. Moreover, SBU officers confiscated accounting records, accounting fraud and other evidences proving illegal activities.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Main Directorate of Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of the State's Interests jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s General Office.
