SBU prevents misappropriation of public funds allocated for urgent flood relief efforts in Ivano-Frankivsk Region in 2020.

SBU officers carried out measures on protection of critical infrastructure and established that central and local authorities in Halych and Kosiv districts entered invalid data on recovery and repair of damaged facilities.

In particular, the lists included undamaged buildings. The investigation uncovered that estimated costs included non-essential and irrelevant goods, works and services.  

In order to prevent public expenditures, SBU informed the Halych and Kosiv District State Administrations on revealed offences.

Due to the SBU reports, the local authorities verified and reduced funds by more UAH 6.8 m. (USD 243,000) in Halych district and UAH 39 m. (USD 1.4 m.) in Kosiv District.

Further verification of the use by officials of funds allocated for flood relief is underway.
