The SBU prevented illegal VAT refund amounting to almost UAH 1 bln (USD 35,714,286).

During the investigation, the operatives established that a number of companies were engaged in fictitious non-commodity sales, which allowed them to claim VAT refund from the state budget.

Thanks to SBU materials, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine carried out a number of monitoring and verification procedures. As a result, the declared amount of the budget VAT refund was decreased by UAH 992,3 m (USD 35,4 m).

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Economic Interests jointly with the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
