In the city of Kharkiv, the SBU blocked an illegal scheme of VAT reimburshment fron the state budget.

The SBU established, that a Kharkiv company bought real estate in Kyiv region in 2020. According to the purchase and sale contract, the real estate was worth UAH 300 m. (USD 10,7 m.), which exceeds the market value by five times. At the end of 2020, the perpetrators applied for unlawful Vat reimburshment worth almost UAH 25 m. (USD 900,000).

The SBU initiated an inspection, resulting in exposure of the illegal scheme. The company’s management was informed about criminal responsibility for false VAT declaration. Thanks to the SBU timely intervention, the firm withdrew the application for unlawful VAT reimburshment.

To remind, the SBU preveneted budget losses totalling UAH 56,2 b. (USD 2 b.) in 2020.

The operation was conducted by the unit for counterintelligence protection of state’s economy of the SBU Office in Kharkiv region jointly with the Main Department of the State Tax Service.
