SSU warns about intensification of russian propaganda

The Security Service of Ukraine notes the intensification of russian special services in Ukraine’s information space with the involvement of propagandists, bloggers and so-called ‘experts’. These individuals create and disseminate anti-Ukrainian content, which the enemy tries to spin in social networks and controlled media, mostly through bot farms.

The points they try to spread include kremlin’s narratives about the war in Ukraine; emphasis on ideas aimed at violating the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country; information campaigns against Ukraine’s military and political leadership; suggestions about the ‘loss of subjectivity’ during negotiations in the international arena; decadent sentiments disguised as supposedly neutral expert assessments that actually work in moscow’s interests, etc.

The ‘throw-ins’ and discussion of these topics within our country is part of russia’s strategy. The enemy is trying to undermine the socio-political situation in Ukraine, reduce the level of international support, create the illusion of protest moods and distort the information about the situation on the front.

The SSU reminds that such actions for the benefit of the aggressor state bear signs of criminal offences and fall under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including the Article on high treason committed under martial law. And the punishment for this type of crime can be life imprisonment.

Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, the Security Service of Ukraine has opened almost 2,500 criminal proceedings against Internet agitators who spread anti-Ukrainian content. Within these cases, over 1,700 persons have been served suspicion notices under various Articles of the Criminal Code. To date, more than 800 court verdicts have entered into force.

This includes 162 criminal proceedings in which 62 propagandists and media workers have been declared suspects. Of these, 16 are suspected under Article 111 of the CCU – of high treason. The courts have already handed down 10 guilty verdicts against media propagandists.

The Security Service constantly monitors the information space, neutralizes cases of pro-russian propaganda and regularly brings those involved to justice.

At the same time, the SSU calls on citizens to be vigilant: please observe information hygiene, do not engage in the spread of russian narratives and do not respond to enemy provocations.

Glory to Ukraine!
