SSU strengthens cooperation with NATO on global cyber security

On 6-7 July 2023, SSU cyber experts and representatives of other Ukrainian cyber security institutions took part in working meetings at NATO HQ.

The events were part of the Trust Fund’s Knowledge Sharing Project within the NATO-Ukraine Comprehensive Assistance Package.

During the trip, the Ukrainian delegation also visited NATO’s Allied Command Operations and the NATO Communications and Information Agency.

During the events, Ukrainian experts made a presentation on Ukraine’s cybersecurity system in the context of russia’s armed aggression.

In addition, our delegation presented new proposals on how to enhance cooperation with NATO on cybersecurity.

In turn, Ukrainian experts learned about the Alliance’s entities involved in ensuring cybersecurity.

The discussion was moderated by the Director of NATO Cyber Operations Centre and the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges.

During the visit, the Ukrainian side attended briefings at:

  • the Cyber Operations Centre and the J6 Directorate of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe;
  • NATO Cyber Security Centre;
  • the Corporate Services Management Centre and the Office of NATO Chief Information Officer;
  • the Emerging Security Challenges Directorate, the C3 Secretariat, the Joint Intelligence and Security Directorate, including the NATO Office of Security, and the NATO Operations Division.

The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Nataliia Tkachuk, Secretary of the National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity, and included representatives of the SSU, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces, the Cyber Police Department and the Prosecutor General’s Office.
