SBU reinforces security measures in Kyiv after Lutsk events

The Security Service of Ukraine is taking all necessary measures to maintain peace and order both in Kyiv and in other regions. “There is constant coordination between the SBU, colleagues from other law enforcement agencies and local authorities,” noted colonel Oleh Holovash, the head of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

"Of course, we pay special attention to the security situation in Kyiv region, regardless of the statements of any political forces or local authorities. After all, many strategic facilities are located in Kyiv. Therefore, enhanced control over the security situation in Kyiv is not unusual for law enforcement agencies. There is a constructive cooperation, “ he said.

According to Oleh Holovash, after the act of terrorism in Lutsk city, the Coordination Group of the Antiterrorist Center (ATC) at the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region recommended that the ATC commandment establish an increased “yellow” level of terrorist threats in the region, in accordance with the “Regulation on the unified state system for the prevention, response, and termination of terrorist attacks and minimization of their consequences”, approved by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated No. 92 of February 18, 2016.

In addition, it was decided to introduce an enhanced watch bill of law enforcement personnel in Kyiv region. The main efforts are focused on preventing terrorist activities in places of mass gathering of people, as well as on strengthening the security level of the critical infrastructure facilities.
