SSU serves suspicion notices to four bloggers who filmed Ukraine’s Air Defence in operation during russia’s May 16 strike on Kyiv
The SSU has collected evidence and received experts’ conclusions confirming the unlawful actions of four Kyiv residents who disseminated information on the operation of Ukrainian Air Defence systems during the massive russian attack on Kyiv on May 16.
One of them, a 32-year-old woman, posted the prohibited content on her social media as well as sent it to the administrator of one of the popular Telegram channels.
A few hours later, her video was shared on pro-russian platforms.
Another, a 36-year-old resident of the capital, posted a video on her Instagram account with air defence systems in operation and results of hitting enemy targets.
The third suspect also shared her video on social media.
The fourth suspect is a native of Sumy oblast who lives in Kyiv. The woman first filmed the results of shooting down enemy missiles and then sent the files to her friends through various messengers.
To avoid prosecution, she tried to delete the unlawful messages.
The SSU has served notices of suspicion to all four persons under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (dissemination of information on transfer, movement or location of the AFU or other lawful military formations, if it enables their identification in the area, if such information was not made publicly available by the AFU’s General Staff, the MoD of Ukraine or other state authorities, committed under martial law).
The bloggers are facing up to 8 years in prison.
During the searches at the suspects’ homes, investigators found mobile phones and computers used to disseminate the videos.
Investigative actions are also ongoing in relation to two other suspects who published banned content that day and were immediately exposed by the SSU.
The SSU once again emphasizes the prohibition to film and publish video and photo materials on the Defence Forces’ activities and consequences of enemy attacks.
Dissemination of such material is regarded as adjusting enemy fire and is a crime punishable by law.
The pre-trial investigations are ongoing under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
