SSU serves suspicion notice to russian state duma member, considered to be ‘supervisor’ for occupied Kherson oblast

The SSU has collected evidence against russian state duma member Ihor Kastiukevych, who contributed to the spread of the occupation regime in the temporarily occupied part of southern Ukraine.

The official personally coordinated the process of organizing and conducting an unlawful referendum on ‘accession’ of Kherson region to the aggressor state.

The russian MP is the deputy head of the pro-kremlin ‘united russia’ faction and is close to russia’s senior military and political leadership.

Between September 23 and 28, 2022, he was in the temporarily occupied Kherson, where ensured the ‘required’ results of the fake plebiscite.

It was on his instructions that representatives of ‘election committees’, together with the armed occupiers, went to homes of local residents and forced them to ‘vote’ in favor of the kremlin.

The russian official also filmed and posted staged videos of distribution of russian ‘humanitarian aid’ in the region.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Kastiukevych of suspicion under the Article 110.3 of the CCU (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability).

The suspect is currently in russia. Comprehensive measures are taken to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.

The investigation was carried out with the support of the National Police and under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
