SSU notifies of suspicion two russian generals who commanded suppression of peaceful protests during Kherson occupation

The SSU identified 14 more russian war criminals involved in mass repressions against civilians during the occupation of the city of Kherson, including the commander of the 50th separate operational brigade of the russian guard, Major General Mykhailo Kalupin.

In the spring of 2022, in Kherson he commanded the suppression of peaceful protests against the russian invaders.

Then, ruscists used stun grenades and tear gas against the protesters.

The occupiers also beat Ukrainian citizens with rubber batons, and some of the victims suffered gunshot wounds.

Moreover, during the peaceful protest, the invaders captured its participants and took them to russian torture chambers equipped in seized buildings in the city.

At least 11 people were imprisoned in this way.

The investigation established that Kalupin gave a criminal order to suppress local rallies to another russian general, Dmitrii Peshakov, who served as the commander of the reinforced tactical group of the 606th special forces center of the North Caucasus district of the russian guard.

According to findings, the following officers took part in the punitive operations:

Colonel Oleksandr Naumenko, deputy head of the department of the federal service of the russian guard in rostov region;

Colonel Hryhorii Zan — chief of staff of the 50th separate operational brigade of the russian guard;

Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Haponov — head of the operational department — deputy chief of staff of the 50th separate operational brigade of the russian guard.

The occupation group also involved the following privates:

  • Danylenko Eduard Kostiantynovych;
  • Dzhyhanov Rinat Movlitberdyiovych;
  • Duisenhaliiev Mirkhan Nurzhanovych;
  • Kuular Naidan Heorgiiovych;
  • Masol Vladyslav Ihorovych;
  • Mirzaliiev Adil Fazylovych;
  • Sovbanov Salman Kulmurzaiovych;
  • Turyshev Serhii Mykhailovych;
  • Unehov Oleksandr Mykolaiovych.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators have notified 14 people of suspicion under Articles 28-2 and 438-1 of the CCU (violation of the laws and customs of war committed by a group of persons).

The investigation is ongoing to establish their whereabouts and bring them to justice.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
