SSU serves notice of suspicion to Medvedchuk and Shariy’s ex-lawyer who joined occupation ‘government’ in Kherson region
The SSU has collected evidence against collaborator Valentyn Rybin, who is heading the ‘organizational and legal department of the ministry of information policy in Kherson region of russia’.
Rybin was a personal lawyer of Medvedchuk and Shariy, both of whom are suspected of high treason.
At the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion, he left Ukraine and wrote a post on Facebook already from abroad, calling on Ukrainians to stop resisting the occupiers.
Subsequently, the lawyer arrived in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson oblast and was employed by the leadership of russia’s occupation administration.
There, Rybin is fulfilling moscow’s tasks of strengthening the occupation regime through a massive spread of kremlin propaganda.
The collaborator became a member of the pro-putin united russia party and tried to ‘run’ for the so-called ‘legislative assembly of Kherson region’ this autumn.
During the ‘election campaign’, he repeatedly spoke in support of the kremlin’s aggressive policies and agitated local residents to support the occupiers.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served Rybin a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration).
Earlier, the SSU had qualified his criminal actions under Article 436-2.1 of the CCU (justification, recognition of as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The collaborator is in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine. Efforts are underway to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
